Minimalism

It is very common in reality, and got to web space. The main emphasis is on a simple and discreet design.

There should not be anything superfluous! Information content is not manifested in the abundance of content, but vice versa.

Sometimes all text on minimalistic sites is replaced by video or compressed to a couple of phrases or a call to action.

Laconicism is proclaimed the main principle, and the number of visual elements is minimized.

Everything is subject to these rules, from the structure of the Internet resource to the choice of fonts. Minimalism is based on direct logic and a complete rejection of excesses.

Retro (Vintage)

Both names have the same meaning: in the web design of sites made in this style, certain elements that had a distribution in the past must be used.

It can be bright graphics of pop art of the second half of the 20th century, ancient “annalistic” initial letters, royal monograms or heraldic symbols.

As special effects, often used are aged, faded, shabby textures, halftones, which seem to fade in the sun or fade under the influence of time.

Accordingly, they use fonts from real Gothic to skillfully styled for past eras.

Retro should be handled carefully: there is a risk of overdoing it and instead of getting a stylish site get a pile of “fossils”.

Therefore, the development of web design should be entrusted to designers with taste and experience.

In this case, a worthy business card website or corporate portal in a vintage style can be purchased by representatives of various creative fields, antique dealers, second-hand book dealers, jewelers. Retro is preferred by those owners whose business is a family business and has a rich, long history.

Hand Drawn

Needless to say, designers who dream of becoming artists love this trend? There are great opportunities to lasso inspiration and do real painting. The basis of web design is a unique graphic, which is drawn manually on paper. Then the idea is transferred to digital format.

Perhaps this style evokes the most powerful emotional response if the design is executed with high quality. Each element becomes an authorial one, attracting attention, therefore the content must be simple, touching, perhaps naive, but not excessive.

For obvious reasons, this design is suitable for the whole creative fraternity, the beauty industry, a variety of children’s studios, small online stores or landing pages of young companies.

Metro

To understand how Metro-style sites look, just remember the Windows 10 interface, where the sections are presented in the form of large, uniform tiles. This trend has penetrated into web design.

Features

  • Minimalism;
  • Bright palette of colors;
  • No less bright, non-standard typography;
  • Strict attitude to size and proportion;
  • Functionality, clear logic and structure, plenty of links.

The style is quite universal, it is difficult to say who it will not suit, of course, with a high-quality implementation.

Polygonal

Remember the Cubist artists? The origins of this aesthetic come from their painting. This style of web design, on the one hand, is notable for simplicity, on the other hand, for its variety of decorative elements.

In the course are lines, shapes, spatial models. Real objects are refracted at different angles and get a new sound, meaning.

The style is original, but limited by the main idea. This is a riot of geometry and color for fans of gradients and special effects.

Flat Design

The direction that appeared to the world in 2012 became a kind of antipode of skeuomorphism, which liked to convey real volumes, shadows.

The flat design symbolizes the simplification of digital space and proclaims the era of two-dimensionality. Now it is undergoing changes, which we recently wrote about .

But for now, we note such characteristic features of it:

  • The content is given the main place, graphic elements do not distract the user’s attention, but help him to get information.
  • A significant role is given to typography, which should not be ordinary.
  • The layout of sections and elements of the resource structure is built according to an intuitive template.
  • It is allowed to use bright colors, large-format photos, illustrations, videos, but without fanaticism.

Organic And Natural

A lot of people like flora, fauna and the natural world in general, therefore there is such a style in web design. It is clear that in the framework of this aesthetic, developers will certainly apply motives borrowed from mother nature:

  • Textures depicting grass, trees, flowers, water, mountains;
  • Graphic elements in the form of various landscapes, variations on the theme of the animal or plant kingdom.
